Meet the Pastor
Pastor James & Jenni
God has a remarkable way of calling ordinary people to His extraordinary purposes. Looking back, I can clearly see His faithful hand guiding every step of my journey. While listening to my father, Pastor Mike Dexter, preach on David and Goliath, the Lord impressed upon my heart a calling that seemed far beyond my own abilities, to proclaim the Gospel of Jesus Christ. Like David standing before the giant with only a sling and a stone, I knew that if I was to answer God's call, it would only be through His strength and His faithfulness. As the years have passed, I have come to realize that God had been preparing me all along through opportunities to serve His church, shaping my heart and teaching me to depend completely upon Him.
Since that day, God has faithfully led my wife, Jenni and me through every season of ministry. We have experienced both mountaintop moments and valleys, yet in every circumstance His grace has proven sufficient and His promises unfailing. Serving the people of Good Shepherd has become one of life's greatest blessings. We count it a privilege to walk alongside this church family, celebrating God's victories, sharing one another's burdens, growing together in His Word and witnessing lives transformed by the saving power of Jesus Christ. Time and again, we have seen that this is not our church, but Christ's Church and He alone continues to build it for His glory.
As we look toward the future, our confidence rests not in our own plans or abilities, but in the God who has been faithful in every generation. We believe He is still calling people to Himself, still changing lives through the Gospel and still using His Church to bring hope to a world in need. Our prayer is that Good Shepherd will continue to be a place where every person can encounter the love of Christ, grow in their faith, discover their God-given purpose and join in His mission. With hearts full of gratitude and expectancy, we press forward, holding firmly to the promise of Philippians 1:6.
"Being confident of this very thing, that He who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus."
Philippians 1:6We are excited to see what God has done, grateful for what He is doing today and filled with anticipation for all that He has yet to accomplish through His people.
